10,000 Dead in Philippines due to Yolanda

Over 10,000 (Ten Thousand) people feared dead after supertyphoon Yolanda (International Name Haiyan) strikes Visayas in Philippines November 8, 2013. There were hundreds of bodies recovered and still counting and believed to reach ten thousand casualties.

“We had a meeting last night with the governor and based on the government’s estimates, initially there are 10,000 casualties (dead),” Chief Superintendent Elmer Soria told reporters in Tacloban, the devastated capital of Leyte province.
Soria was referring to a meeting with the governor of Leyte.
