Spains Massive Catholic Church Sagrada Familia in Final Phase - Photos

Sagrada Familia, a huge Catholic Church being built in Spain reaches it's final phase and soon to be finished. It took over 100 years to complete this massive church. Photos

The Sagrada Familia, a massive Roman Catholic church being built in Barcelona, is now in its final phase of construction, the project’s directing architect Jordi Faulí announced in a press conference recently.

The church has been under construction for more than a century. Work first began on March 19, 1882, but a year later legendary Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí took over the project. At the time of his death in 1926, just about 25% of the project had been completed.

Since then, work has progressed over the decades, passing the halfway point in 2010. The project is slated to be completed in 2026, coinciding with Gaudí's death centenary. Once finished, the Sagrada Familia will be the tallest church in Europe.
