Kate Middleton Feels Upset Due to Solomon Island Dress Controversy

Kate Middleton was reportedly left feeling upset after a mix up over traditional dress during a visit to the Solomon Islands where she unwittingly wore a print created on the Cook Islands, causing the country widespread upset.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore the pink print dress during a dinner on the Island and in an effort to pay tribute to the Island, where she and husband Prince William had recieved such a warm welcone.

A statement released by Clarence House claimed the Duchess "felt bad" she had offended her guests through no fault of her own.

"The reason the Duchess wore the dress was because she believed it to be from the Solomon Islands Government and thought it would be an appropriate gesture,” spokesperson claimed.

“Had she known they were from the Cook Islands and not the Solomon Islands it would not have been worn and she feels bad about the confusion."

The spokesperson even claims the royal couple checked before wearing the gifts that they were correct.

"We saw they weren't the same design of the traditional clothes we were told would be gifted," they explained. "So we checked with the Solomon Islands government to ensure the right ones were worn. We were reassured the clothes were correct, and so the Duke and Duchess wore them to the event. “

They added: "No offence was caused."

The upset has caused further heartache for the royal couple, who are already dealing with the controversy caused by topless photographs printed in several international publications of Kate while she holidayed in France earlier this month.

Topless shots of the 30 year-old sunbathing topless alongside her husband were first printed in French Closer magazine two weeks ago when the couple were half way through a nine day Diamond Jubilee tour of East Asia on behalf of the queen.
